Economic Development and Enterprise

Change Theory: Improving employment opportunities for local people, addressing skill attainment and creating an environment to encourage entrepreneurship and investment.

The Economy and Enterprise Board has been established to take responsibility for the development and delivery of the Economic & Enterprise block of Oldham's Local Area Agreement. The Board has a specific focus on improving employment opportunities and skills attainment for local people, and creating an environment to encourage entrepreneurship and investment.

The membership of the Economy & Enterprise Board is made up of the following organisations:

  • Nick Brown (Principal, Oldham Sixth Form College and Chair of Oldham Local Learning Partnership)

  • Robin Henshaw (Executive Director, Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale, representing the Voluntary, Community and Faith Partnership)

The Local Learning Partnership and the Economic Partnership sit underneath the Economy & Enterprise Board, and will make commissioning recommendations to the Board for projects which will help to deliver Oldham's LAA. The two Partnerships will also prioritise projects based on the LAA Performance Management Framework, and the LAA Risk Assessment.

Five sub-groups have been established to coordinate the delivery of specific indicators and action plans. Each sub-group is also responsible for the performance management of targets. The sub-groups are:

  • 14-19 Task Group
  • Adult & Essential Skills Group
  • Skills & Workforce Development Group
  • Enterprise, Innovation & Growth Group
  • Oldham Image Group
