What We Do
The Oldham Partnership is the Local Strategic Partnership for the Borough of Oldham. Local Strategic Partnerships (or LSPs) provide a coordinated framework for local organisations and agencies to work together to address the issues which affect local quality of life.
The vision of the Oldham Partnership is to make "Oldham - a place where everyone is proud to belong".
The main roles that the Oldham Partnership undertakes in Oldham are:
- To clearly identify and address the strategic priorities both for Oldham and the priority issues for neighbourhoods, localities and groups of greatest need, and ensure that these priorities are effectively managed through the appropriate partnerships and organisations;
- To provide a cohesive and overarching structure of organisations which will work together to implement the Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement;
- To bring together in a clear, accountable and action-orientated structure, the leaders of the key organisations and partnerships from the public, private, voluntary, community and faith sectors;
- To ensure that the work and resources of organisations and partnerships in Oldham is aligned with strategic priorities;
- To clearly communicate and publicise the change taking place in Oldham and to demonstrate that this includes all our communities and individuals;
- To ensure the sustainable development of Oldham;
- To promote community development and cohesion;
- To provide an accountable structure for delivery of the Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement.
There are two strategies which drive the work of the Oldham Partnership - the Community Strategy and the Local Area Agreement (LAA).
Community Strategy
The Community Strategy sets out the Oldham Partnership's long-term vision to build sustainable communities in the Borough - economically, socially, physically and environmentally. The second edition of the Community Strategy was published in April 2005 to incorporate the exemplary ideas incorporated in Oldham Beyond - the strategic regeneration vision for the Borough.
Local Area Agreement (LAA)
The Oldham Partnership successfully applied to be a second round pilot Local Area Agreement (LAA) in June 2005. Oldham's LAA will run from April 2006 through to March 2009, and is seen as the "delivery plan" for the Community Strategy. The overall objective for Oldham's LAA is to "increase life opportunities for all".
