Oldham's local area agreement (LAA)
In June 2008, Oldham signed a new local area agreement. (LAA)
The LAA is a contract between organisations in the borough such as the council, police, health services and many others; and the government. It sets out how we will improve Oldham - and your lives - over the next three years.
LAAs are important because they give people in Oldham the freedom to choosen what needs tackling most in our borough.
The finer details
The LAA contains over 200 indicators to measure our progress towards making Oldham safe and strong, healthy and prosperous.
Some of the indicators, for example improving the number of young people taking part in positive activities, and improving the cleanliness of our streets, will make a huge difference in the borough, so these are our highest priorities.
Keep up the good work
Our first local area agreement led to lots of improvements in the borough, including a reduction in house fires, more recycling, more Oldham parks awarded green flag status, more students studying at University College Oldham and a huge 13,380 more people taking part in visual and performing arts.
We know that the new LAA can do just the same - if not even more. We'll keep you up to date.
