Oldham Partnership business
Oldham's credit crunch war cabinet
The CCWC met in early April. The group heard that -
- Jobcentre Plus is undertaking large-scale recruitment across the region to enable to it to continue to help people within its target times; Nationally, the Department for Work and Pensions has appointed British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) as the provider of volunteering opportunities for customers unemployed for 6 months.
- The council are working closely with two local organisations that may need to make workers redundant or put them on shorter hours, and are aware of a third organisation where this may also be the case.
- 123 people completed a ‘passport to employment’ programme to enable them to get jobs at the town’s Tesco on Huddersfield Road. All had been unemployed for six months or longer.
You can read more in the CCWC’s monthly report here and you can also e-mail the CCWC with your suggestions and concerns at credit.crunch@oldham.gov.uk

OldhamInfo reaches milestone
OldhamInfo had its 2500th user registration on 22nd April. The registering person was a member of staff at NHS Oldham. Registrations are currently running at about 100 per month, and include people from Oldham Council, NHS Oldham, many other local bodies, government organisations, academic researchers and members of the public. It’s the second part of a double celebration, as we had our highest usage day ever at the end of March.
OldhamInfo is the Oldham Partnership’s tool for sharing information about local services, research and statistics. It uses maps to help display statistics and review facilities and activities for local areas within Oldham. This year, NHS Oldham has begun to part fund the site, with the aims of including a greater range of health research and statistics, and of raising awareness amongst PCT staff of being able to access research and statistics easily in a single location.
