Local Development Framework

The Government has reformed the system of development planning in England. Development Plans are used to control and guide the development and use of land. They can be viewed as the 'spatial expression' of the Community Strategy. The Local Planning Authority - in this case Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council - must prepare a Local Development Framework, which will eventually replace the Unitary Development Plan (UDP).

To help you understand the new development plans system, Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council have designed a specific page within their website which sets out all the suite of documents which make up the Local Development Framework (LDFs), as well as an interactive visual guide to LDFs.
